However, after extensive testing and multiple timed grinding sessions, the reality appears far more complicated. While Void Runes Phase 7 does offer a slight increase in experience compared to Phase 6, the actual improvement is surprisingly small. Meanwhile, Underground Prison Room 3 continues to outperform nearly every other realistic grinding location for most players.

The numbers tell a very interesting story.

Testing the New Void Runes Phase 7

To properly compare the new farming areas, several 10-minute grinding sessions were conducted across different zones and loadouts. The results were then multiplied into hourly estimates to determine long-term efficiency. While this is not a massive statistical sample with median calculations or perfect optimization, it still provides a strong practical overview of what players can realistically expect during everyday grinding.

One of the biggest discoveries involved the difference between EXP-focused builds and standard PvE damage builds.

Many players naturally assume that stacking bonus EXP stats is always the best option when farming levels. However, the testing showed something unexpected inside Void Runes. Running a dedicated EXP loadout produced nearly identical experience gains compared to using a normal high-damage PvE setup. The reason comes down to kill speed.

With an EXP-focused setup, enemies simply take longer to die because overall damage drops significantly. Slower kills mean fewer monsters defeated per hour, which offsets the bonus EXP percentages gained from the gear. As a result, the total experience ends up almost identical.

The major difference is gold income.

Because the EXP setup kills slower, players generate noticeably less gold over time. Meanwhile, the standard PvE setup maintains the same overall EXP percentage while producing more consistent income. This makes the normal combat rotation far more efficient overall.

For most players, this means there is little reason to sacrifice damage purely for EXP bonuses inside Void Runes. Faster clears remain king.

Phase 6 vs Phase 7 Void Runes

The actual EXP increase from Phase 6 to Phase 7 turned out to be relatively minor.

At level 83 with the tested setup, Phase 7 produced roughly 0.06% more EXP than Phase 6 over the same period. Technically, this confirms that the new phase is better, but the increase is nowhere near game-changing.

This creates an important question for grinders: is the extra difficulty and resource investment actually worth it?

For many players, especially those without whale-level gear or extremely high combat power, the answer may be no.

Phase 7 enemies hit harder and often require more active skill rotations to clear efficiently. That is a major revelation because many players automatically assume newer content completely invalidates previous farming spots. In reality, efficient grinding in MMORPGs often depends more on consistency and clear speed than simply entering the highest-level area available.

Why Underground Prison Room 3 Still Dominates

Despite all the attention surrounding Void Runes, Underground Prison Room 3 in Phase 7 continues to stand above the competition for pure EXP efficiency.

The testing results were not even particularly close.

Void Runes Phase 7 produced around 0.29% EXP during the test window, while Underground Prison Room 3 reached approximately 0.43%. That difference is enormous over long grinding sessions. Players farming for several hours every day would see dramatically faster progression by remaining in Room 3.

This advantage becomes even more important because leveling at higher levels in Odin: Valhalla Rising is notoriously slow. Tiny percentage increases matter immensely once players enter the level 80+ range. Even a fraction of a percent per hour can save days or weeks of grinding over time.

The biggest reason Room 3 remains so effective comes down to mob density and rotation efficiency. Players can continuously chain kills with minimal downtime, allowing sustained combat without constantly repositioning or dealing with inefficient enemy spacing.

For sniper builds especially, the location remains incredibly powerful.

The original testing specifically noted that snipers perform exceptionally well there due to their ability to maintain constant attacks while safely clearing large groups. Other classes may not reach identical efficiency, but the gap is likely smaller than many expect.

This highlights one of the most important truths about grinding in MMORPGs: the best farming location is often class-dependent. A zone that feels mediocre for one build may become outstanding for another.

Hall of Chaos Phase 8: Lower EXP but Better Long-Term Value

Although Underground Prison Room 3 remains the EXP king, Hall of Chaos Phase 8 introduces another layer to the discussion.

Pure experience efficiency there falls slightly behind Room 3, with testing showing roughly 0.385% EXP over the same duration. While lower, the difference is not catastrophic. More importantly, Hall of Chaos offers rewards unavailable anywhere else in the game.

That changes the equation significantly.

The area contains exclusive common, uncommon, rare, and epic drops that directly contribute to item collections. These collections provide valuable permanent stat bonuses, including dodge and other highly desirable combat stats.

For long-term account progression, those bonuses matter enormously.

Many players make the mistake of evaluating grinding zones solely through hourly EXP numbers. In reality, MMORPG progression is multidimensional. Permanent collection bonuses can improve survivability, increase PvE efficiency, strengthen PvP performance, and unlock better farming potential later.

Because of that, Hall of Chaos remains extremely worthwhile despite slightly lower leveling speed.

The recommendation to spend weekly free farming hours there makes perfect sense. Players sacrifice a small amount of EXP in exchange for meaningful long-term progression that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

That tradeoff is often worth it.

The Hourglass Economy Debate

Another major topic surrounding the new Void Runes revolves around Hourglasses.

Many players initially expected Phase 7 Void Runes to become the best possible use of Hourglasses due to the anticipated EXP improvements. However, the actual results suggest players should be more selective.

Buying Hourglasses specifically to grind Void Phase 7 does not currently appear efficient if prices remain inflated. Since the EXP improvement over existing content is relatively small, overpaying for additional entry time becomes difficult to justify economically.

However, Hourglasses still have value under the right market conditions.

If Hourglass prices are reasonably low, they can remain a cost-effective investment because they allow players to generate both EXP and gold simultaneously. Compared to directly purchasing gear upgrades with gold, extended farming sessions may still provide stronger overall account growth.

The key factor is market pricing.

On some servers, Hourglass prices have skyrocketed because players assumed Phase 7 would become the definitive endgame grind spot. If prices stay too high, the return on investment simply drops too much.

This is a common pattern in MMORPG economies. New content creates hype, hype drives demand, and demand inflates prices long before the community fully understands the actual efficiency of the new systems.

One of the most refreshing aspects of this testing is how grounded the conclusions are.

Not every player is a maxed-out whale capable of farming ultra-endgame zones like Land of Paradox with perfect efficiency. Many guides online focus heavily on idealized setups that only apply to a tiny percentage of the player base.

For average players, realistic grinding recommendations are far more valuable.
